Where we come from

Brief History Of Our Church

--------------
--------------

Where we are going

Our church actually began as a mission church of Calvary Baptist Church of Allentown Florida in 1982. The church was ordinally located on Berryhill Road. Many worshipped there for years and many gospel messages preached. The name of the church was Mount Calvary Mission which later became Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Around the year 2005 the church called a new pastor who lead the church to claim the Authorized King James Bible as the Word of God and to become an independent Baptist church. Because of this tempers flared and contention began between the church and and it's original founders. Which was not good, nor a good testimony for either church. It was a hinderance to the work of God for all involved.

After a few years of disputing Mt. Calvary Baptist Church called a new Pastor, George E. Trapani in June of 2009. Calvary Baptist called a new pastor as well and the two pastors met together and put an end to the schism between the two church's.

Mt. Calvary moved off the property and marched on for the glory of God in two rental locations within six years. Then in 2017 was able to buy the current location on Simpson Dr.

After the purchase of the church's new location the church decided and voted to change the name form Mt. Calvary Baptist to True Gospel Independent Baptist Church. We adopted John 17:17 as the church's verse, for our desire is to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth.

So here we stand today for the glory of the Lord. He has brought us through a lot and has sustained us all the way. Our congregation is strong , grounded in doctrine and encompassed with brotherly love. So come see what great things our God has done at True Gospel Independent Baptist Church.

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD,

and he shall sustain thee:

he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

Psalms 55:22

What We Believe

Brief Statement of Faith

--------------
--------------

Sanctify Them Thru Thy Truth

(A) The Holy Scriptures: We believe the King James Bible to be the infallible preserved Word of God and therefore it is to be the official and only text used within the church. (II Tim 3:16-17; II. Peter 1:20-21; Ps. 12:6-7)

(B) The Godhead: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons- Father, Son, Holy Spirit; each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfection. (Deut. 6:4, Matt. 28:19, John 14:10, 26:2, II Cor. 13:14)

(C) The Person And Work of Christ: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became a man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy ghost and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men due to His sinless nature. (Isa. 7:14, 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14:2; II Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil.2:5-8)                                                                                                                           * We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, substitutionary sacrifice and our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36, Rom. 3:24-25, Eph. 1:7, I Pet. 2:24, I Pet. 1:35)                                                                     * We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God the Father where as our high priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10, Rom. 8:34, Heb. 9:24, 7:25; I John 2:1-1)

(D) The Person and Work Of The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgement, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing of all believers in the Holy Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption.  (Jn. 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14)                                                                                                                                 *We believe that He is the divine teacher who assists believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. (Eph.1:17-18; 5:18; I Jn. 2:20,27)              *We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to ever believer. God uniquely uses evangelist, pastors, and teachers to equip the congregation to do the work of the ministry. (Rom.12:3-3; I Cor. 12:4-11&28;Eph. 44:7-12)                                                                                                                                                         *We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit; such as speaking in tongues, the gift of healing, ingesting poison, and handling snakes were temporary. Speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummations of our salvation in the resurrection, through God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of the believers for physical healing. (I Cor. 1:22,13:8; 14:21-22)

(E) Depravity of Man: We believe man was created in the image and likeness of God; but Adam's sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23, 5:12, 6:23; Eph. 2:1-2; 4:1-17&19)

(F) Salvation: We believe that salvation is the gift of God, brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. (Matt.12:31-32; Jn. 1:1-2; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19; I Jn. 1:9)

(G) Eternal Security: We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by the power of God and are secure in Christ forever. (Jn. 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:38-39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Pet. 1:4-5)                                                            *We also believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to sin.               (Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)

Meet our Pastor  George Trapani

Pastor Trapani is a native of New York, raised in the Queens until he was 14. In 1974 his family moved to Pensacola Florida. Pastor Trapani lived in Myrtle Grove, attended Escambia High School and graduated from PJC Adult High in 1977. After graduation he served in the military for 12 years and was honorably discharged in 1989.

After many years of a wasted life he was lead to the Lord by Brother Bill Chrysler on March 13th 1988. He later became a member of Charity Baptist Church in Cantonment Florida under the leadership of Dr. James McGaughey. While at Charity Baptist he felt the call of God on his life to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as pastor McGaughey preached a message titled "How To Pay Your Debts." After his new birth and surrender to preach the Lord led him to the Juvenile Justice System bringing the truth of the gospel to America's troubled teens as a missionary with America's Juvenile Delinquents under the direction of David Wood Pastor of Faith Baptist in Pell City Alabama. Brother Trapani served as the chaplain of the Black Water S.T.O.P. Program in Munson Florida, The Bridge Program in Gadsden Alabama, and the Mt. Megis Campus in Montgomery Florida. While at Mt. Megis Pastor Trapani sat on the the State Advisory Board  for the Department of Youth Services for 10 years. He served faithfully for 18 years bringing the gospel to troubled youth in Florida and Alabama.

Pastor Trapani is a graduate of the Gulf Coast Bible Institute located in Fort Walton Beach Florida a ministry of Gulf Coast Baptist Church of which Dr. Harold Tabb was pastor and the president of the school. He was ordained by Charity Baptist Church of Cantonment in November of 1996. Through these ministries and the host of great men of God that the Lord has placed in his life, Pastor Trapani has obtained a wealth of Bible knowledge, dedication to service and the desire to finish his course and keep the faith.

So we as a congregation would love to invite you to come and meet our pastor. He has been with us for 12 years now and has served faithfully. We are sure he would love to serve you to. He is a dynamic preacher, great teacher and a hard worker. So come and meet  our pastor.

Since the onset of the Covid scare our church has suffered the loss of some vital ministry partners. We are in need of a minister of music and a piano player to enhance our services.  Candidates must have a clear testimony of salvation, agree to the church's constitution and bylaws, and have a good report from their previous  Baptist church. Our church adheres to the bible standard of tradition music. If you feel the Lord is wanting to use you in this compacity feel free to contact Pastor and discuss it. Extensive experience is not necessary but a desire to serve is.
¶Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD
a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
Psalms 149:1

Do you have the pioneer spirit to create a  fruitful ministry? If so we have a place for you in youth ministries. We have a golden opportunity for a youth pastor to start a ministry from the ground up. Before Covid we had a great youth ministry but unfortunately we lost our youth pastor in the wake of that storm.  We have the materials, the space and a neighborhood of lost kids who need you to lead them to Jesus. If your willing to serve the Lord  and see young souls saved give the Pastor a call. All you need is a clear testimony of salvation, good report from your previous Baptist church and a desire to serve. Experience not necessary our Pastor will teach, lead and guide you. All you need is desire. So give us a call.
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven,
that one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:14
